Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a damping effect with a lightweight, compact device by absorbing a vibration by dint of frictional force between a rod at the piping side and a sliding member at the structure side, in case of the damping device for damping vibrations on equipment, piping or the like due to an earthquake or the like. CONSTITUTION:Piping 1 is connected to a building 2 via a damping device which is constituted of a rod 3, a sliding member 4, a pressure vessel 5 an expansion members 7 of a bellows or the like for connecting this pressure vessel 5 to a cover body 6, a connecting member 8, a rod cover 9 and a clevis bracket 10, pipeline 11 for feeding a pressure fluid to the pressure vessel 5, a valve 12, a flange 13 and a cap 14. Here, the sliding member 4 is tightly attached to the pressure vessel 5, and when the piping 1 vibrates and it is displaced, displacement is caused in the rod 3, whereby frictional force is produced between the sliding member 4 and the rod 3 and kinetic energy of the piping 1 is absorbed. Material of the sliding member 4 is to select a proper one according to such working conditions as using a heterogeneous material so as not to make it stick to the rod 3.
