Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heating toilet seat fitted with a heater unit that reduces losses during machining of its substrate and has sufficient strength by dividing the substrate near the longitudinal central axis of a toilet seat main body, and joining the divided substrates together using a reinforcing means. CONSTITUTION: A toilet seat case 14 and a toilet seat back plate 15 are joined together at their edges by ultrasonic welding or the like to constitute the outer shell of a toilet seat 1. A heater unit 16 comprises a substrate 18 made from aluminum foil and a cordlike heater 19 placed on the substrate 18 and having a casing made from vinyl chloride. The surface of the substrate 18 is coated with an adhesive layer made of a thermosetting acrylic modified resin, etc., and the vinyl chloride of the cordlike heater 19 is welded to the adhesive layer of the substrate 18 by a heat press to hold the cordlike heater 19 in place. Since the junction of the substrate 18 is located near the longitudinal central axis of the toilet seat 1 and at the side of the rotating shaft of the toilet seat 1, stresses caused by deflection when the user sits on the seat and vibration caused when the toilet seat 1 is opened or closed are unlikely to be transmitted to the junction.
