CONSTITUTION:The image pick-up is executed to the steel tapping hole 3 and the neighborhood in the converter 1 during operation through an image pick-up device 10, and the image is displayed on a furnace condition display device 13 and also transmitted to the picture processor 11. The picture processor 11 transmits the signal to an arithmetic unit 12 and in there, the brightness of the steel tapping hole 3 is analyzed to find the brightness with the lapse of time and this result is displayed on the slag condition display device 14. By this method, the slag foaming condition in the furnace is directly and quantitatively grasped without delaying the time and development of slopping can be prevented.
