Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance electrophotographic characteristics, such as acceptance potential and photosensitivity, by combining a specified binder resin with a photosemiconductor made of zinc oxide. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer of the photosensitive body contains zinc oxide and the binder resin of a copolymer of at least one of a first monomer group, such as styrenes, acrylates, and methacrylates, at least one of a second monomer group, that is, ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, such as unsaturated carboxylic acids or unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monoalkyl esters, and at least one of a third monomer group of ethylenically unsaturated amine monomers, such as ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid aminoalkyl esters, aminoalkyl amides, aminoalkyl vinyl ethers, and vinyl pyridine, thus permitting chargeability characteristics of the photosensitive layer and mechanical strength of the coating film to be enhanced.
