Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress multiplication of aflatoxin producing microorganisms, preventing production of aflatoxin and to reduce aflatoxin, by treating grains and nuts with Bacillus subtilis 21AM 1145 strain.
CONSTITUTION: In preventing contamination of grains and nuts with aflatoxin, one of substances having the most strongest carcinogenicity among substances well-known today, grains and nuts after harvesting are treated with Bacillus subtilis 21AM 1145 strain (strain possessed by Institute of Applied Microbiology of University of Tokyo) to control contamination with aflatoxin. The strain is scattered in plowed fields before harvesting, grains and nuts collected from the plowed fields can be readily treated and can be prevented from contamination with aflatoxin.
