Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance heat stability and light stability, to improve preservability and to reduce regeneration deterioration, by using an org. dye membrane which is specific as a recording layer on the substrate of an optical data recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A compound selected from formulae (I), (II) (wherein Z1 is an atom group necessary for completing a heterocyclic ring, Z2 is an atom group necessary for completing a 5-or 6-membered carbon ring, R<1> is an alkyl group or an aralkyl group, R<2> is hydrogen or halogen, R<2>-R<9> are an alkyl group, an alkoxy group and an acyl group, R<10> and R<11> are H, halogen, a hydroxy group, an alkyl group or an aryl group and n and l are an integer of 0 or 1) is contained in the recording layer of an optical data recording medium. The recording layer generates any optical change by the irradiation with laser beam and can record data by said change and is formed of a cyanine dye being a main component. A primer layer can be provided between a substrate and the recording layer or a protective layer can be provided on the recording layer if necessary.
