Abstract

PURPOSE:To restrict the rebounding to be caused when a hammer is attracted to a core, by controlling a piezoelectric element at the side of a permanent magnet between a fixing part of a leaf spring and a magnetic pole, for achieving high-speed printing, and also to enhance durability of a printing head by reducing wear and tear of a contact portion between the hammer and the core. CONSTITUTION:An extensible operating stand 6 which is provided with a piezoelectric element 7 is placed in the middle of a part where a leaf spring is fixed and a magnetic pole. The piezoelectric element 7 is controlled in the movement thereof when a hammer is returned, thereby to restrict the rebounding phenomenon by a secondary vibration mode. In other words, the piezoelectric element 7 is so constructed as to be extended or elongated in a direction shown by an arrow when the element 7 is energized. When the hammer is returned, voltage of such size as to restrict the rebounding (which is determined through experiments) is applied to the hammer. Accordingly, the attenuation time t's of the hammer by the rebounding is made small, and the printing cycle t'rep is reduced, thereby to accomplish printing at high speeds. Moreover, since the rebounding is never given rise when the hammer is attracted to the core, and the leaf spring and the magnetic pole can be almost prevented from being abraded, a long service life of a printing head is secured. Further, noises generated by the collision of the leaf spring and the magnetic pole can be reduced.
