Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove the ions or particles dissolved or suspended in water with a simple structure by dipping an electrode covered with an insulator and a grounded electrode in an aq. soln., and impressing a voltage between both electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The electrode covered with an insulator and the grounded electrode are dipped in an aq. soln., a voltage is impressed between the two electrodes, and the ions and particles dissolved or suspended in city water or waste water are removed at a low cost. In this water treating device, the dielectric electrode 1 obtained by covering a rod-shaped conductive electrode 1a with an insulator 1b, the cylindrical conductive electrode 2 surely grounded through a grounding conductor 6, and a high-voltage power source 4 for impressing a high voltage are arranged as shown in the figure. The electrodes 1 and 2 are dipped in an aq. soln. 3 to be treated in a chemical-resistant vessel 5 made of an insulating substance. A 3-15kV voltage is impressed between the electrodes 1 and 2 by the high-voltage power source 4, and the aq. soln. 3 is treated.
