Abstract
PURPOSE:To efficiently decompose and remove the NOx in exhaust gas by providing the title catalyst obtained by depositing a specified amt. of the platinum-group metal such as Pt and Pd on a composite oxide having a specified crystal structural formula in the passage for the exhaust gas from the automobile having an internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:The platinum-group metal such as Pt and Pd is deposited by 0-1wt.% on the composite oxide having a composition expressed by formula I to form an NOx decomposing catalyst (A is an alkaline-earth metal such as Ba and Sr, B is a rare-earth metal such as Y, Gd, and Nd, 0<=x<=3.0, 0<=y<=2.0, 0<=z<=4.0, 4.0<=alpha<=8.0, and 0<=beta<=2.0). The NOx decomposing catalyst 3 is set in the passage for the exhaust gas from the automobile having an internal-combustion engine 1 to form the catalyst for purifying exhaust gas.
