Abstract
PURPOSE:To decompose nitrogen oxides (NO, NO2, etc.) discharged from automobiles and burners such as home burners and various kinds of industrial burners to convert into harmless N2 by providing NOx decomposition catalyst in the exhaust gas passage. CONSTITUTION:The air heated by flame 1 is joined with the air sent by a fan 2 to be made into warm wind which passes through the NOx decomposition catalyst 3 in which NOx is decomposed into N2 and O2. This warm wind is discharged into a room from louvers 4. The catalyst 3 is constituted by carrying the compound oxides of AxA'x, ByB'y, CzC'z, Oalpha-beta crystal structural formula with 0-1% platinum group metal such as Pt and Pd on the surface of inorganic heat-resisting material, such as alumina and silica, where A, A' and B, B' and C, C' are selected respectively from alkaline earth metals such as Ba and Sr, rare earth elements such as Y, Nd and La, and copper group metals such as Cu and Ag, and suffixes x, x', y, y', z, z', alpha, beta are selected from the range as follows: 0<=x,x'<=3.0, 0<=y,y'<=2.0, 0<=z,z'<=4.0, 4.0<=alpha<=8.0, 0<=beta<=2.0.
