Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain fine powder of perovskite-type ceramic in high workability without causing the problems of e.g. environmental pollution, by dissolving a titanium alkoxide in an alcoholic solution of oxalic acid, mixing with an aqueous solution of acetic acid containing two specific kinds of metallic elements and drying and calcining the produced precipitate.
CONSTITUTION: Fine powder of a perovskite-type ceramic expressed by a general formula ABO3 (A is metallic element coordinating 12 oxygen atoms, e.g. Pb, Sr, La or Ba; B is two or more kinds of metallic elements, one of which is Ti and the others are metallic elements coordinating 6 oxygen atoms, e.g. Zr, Mg or Fe) is produced by the following process. A titanium oxide is dissolved in an alcoholic solution of oxalic acid and the obtained solution is mixed with an aqueous solution of acetic acid containing the metallic elements of the component A and of the component B other than Ti. The produced precipitate is dried and calcined. The objective fine powder of perovskite-type ceramic expressed by the formula ABO3 can be produced by the above process without using a nitric acid salt.
