Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a gel membrane at the medium liquid concn. and coating film thickness uniform over the entire coating width by coupling a static mixer directly to a coating head and using a modifying agent which does not contain urea. CONSTITUTION:The coating head 8 mounts a medium liquid 12 for electrophoretic sepn. which is a coating liquid from the static mixer 7 directly to a supply port 14. The liquid is refracted by passing an expanding slot 16a to constitute a parallel slot 16 and is coated from a slot aperture 17 onto a web 13 on a coating roller 20. The position of the slot aperture 17 is set in a range of the position beta=0-90 deg. on the roller 20. The transverse spreading angle theta of the expanding slot 16a is specified to <=40 deg.. A groove 25 as a transverse distribution chamber to apply transient expansion to the liquid near the terminal of the slot 16a is provided in order to uniformize the thickness in the transverse direction. The depth D of the groove 25 is specified to <=2C (C is a slot clearance), the distance K to the parallel slot 16 of the groove 25 to <=5mm and the height L of the inverted triangular shape of the groove 2 to 5-20mm.
