Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform a rational measurement with the elimination of measuring errors due to unevenness of a temperature distribution, by determining water temperature at an inlet and an outlet of a hydraulic machine by measuring an underwater sound velocity to calculate the efficiency of the hydraulic machine from a value of the water temperature. CONSTITUTION:Water introduced with a hydraulic steel pipe 1 is drained to an effluent pool 4 through an inlet valve 2 and a water wheel 3. An output of the water wheel 3 is converted into an electric energy with a dynamotor 5 to be sent to a transmission wire. Ultrasonic sensors 6a and 6b and 7a and 7b are so arranged to allow transmission and reception. Water temperature measuring devices 6c and 7c determine water temperature from a time interval between the transmission and the reception of an ultrasonic wave determined with the sensors 6a and 6b and 7a and 7b and an arithmetic device 10 picks up the results of the measurement of the device 6c and 7c and the results of measurement of an inlet pressure measuring device 8 and an effluent pool water level measuring device 9 to calculate the efficiency of a hydraulic machine by the theory of thermodynamics. This can eliminate measuring errors due to unevenness of a temperature distribution.
