Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable efficient recovery from especially gold ore using a thiourea leach liquor, by bringing an aqueous solution containing gold, thiourea and a derivative thereof into contact with a specific ion exchange polymer, adsorbing the gold and eluting the gold with an eluent. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing gold and thiourea or a derivative thereof is brought into contact with an ion exchange polymer having sulfonic acid groups to adsorb the gold, which is then eluted with an eluent. The transition metal concentration in the aqueous solution containing the gold and thiourea or derivative thereof is preferably <=5g/l for preventing reduction in adsorption capacity of the ion exchange polymer for the gold. A thiocyanic acid compound is most preferred as the eluent.
