Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a device smaller in size and obviate electromigration in a common electrode, by a construction wherein circuit elements are provided on a conductive thick film, with an insulator layer therebetween, the common electrode and the conductive thick film are electrically connected to each other via a through-hole provided in the insulator layer, and the conductive thick film constitutes a bypass for the common electrode. CONSTITUTION:An insulator layer 4 for layer insulation and a heat generating element layer 5 are provided on a substrate 1 and a metallic thick film 2, and a common electrode 7 and discrete signal electrodes 5 are disposed opposite to each other with gaps therebetween on the heat generating element layer 5, each of the gaps constituting a heat generating part 10. Both end parts of the thick film 2 and a central part of the thick film not provided with the signal electrode are provided respectively with through=-holes 4a, 4b in the insulator layer 4. Parts of the common electrode 7 penetrate the through-holes 4a, 4b to make contact with the thick film 2 via the heat generating element layer 5, whereby the common electrode 7 and the thick film 2 are electrically connected to each other. The thick film 2 functions as a bypass for the common electrode 7, so that an increase in electric resistance is obviated, and electromigration is prevented.
