Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an excellently dressed surface in a cross hatched form by performing dressing in a cross hatched form at a speed equal to and nearly equal to that of a super abrasive grain wheel. CONSTITUTION:The circumferential speed of a super abrasive grain wheel 1 is set first to be equal to that adjacent to the intermediate section 3 of a dressing stone 5 so as to be fed in front and in rear relatively crossing over both a high speed range 4 and a low speed range 2. In case of rough dressing, efficient dressing is performed with great grinding resistance provided while being centered at a down cutting process around a constant speed range 3. On the other hand, in case of finish dressing, both the high speed range 4 and the low speed range 2 can be applied to both down-cutting and up-cutting. By this constitution, the dressing tooling of the super abrasive grain wheel can be more accurately and efficiently performed, in particular, when velocity vectors extend in all direction including a normal and a reverse direction depending on the increase and decrease of relative speeds at the time of down- cutting, an excellently dressed surface in a cross hatched form may be obtained.
