Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely hold a long-sized work so as to smoothly adjust a machining angle without increasing the rigidity of a chuck main body by reinforcing a single magnetic surface plate with the chuck main body, and longitudinally supporting it at predetermined intervals in such a way as to be freely rotated and fixed. CONSTITUTION:A supporting rod 5 projects from both ends of a chuck main body 2 so as to be inserted into bearing portions 3 to be rotatably supported therein, and then, coil grooves 8 are formed on the flat surface portion 7 of the main body 2 so that electromagnetic coils 9 are inserted thereinto. And then, a magnetic surface plate 1 is screwed over the whole length of the main body 2, and further, a magnetic pole 11 is burried in an upper plate portion 10 and is partitioned by means of a polarization material 12 so as to generate magnetic force by the effect of the energization of the electromagnetic coils 9. The chuck main body 2 has supporting points at predetermined intervals over the whole length thereof, and then a small diameter portion 13 is formed in each supporting point so that a supporting portion 14 is disposed therein, and further plural air inlets 17 in intercommunication with a chamber portion 16 open to an abutting surface 15, and thereat, when a vacuum device is connected to an air port 18, the small diameter portion 13 is adsorbed to the abutting surface 15 of the supporting portion 14 so as to come into a fixed state so that atmospheric pressure in the chamber portion 16 makes the chuck main body 2 rotatable.
