Abstract

1,092,075. Drilling stands. BUCK MANUFACTURING CO. July 1, 1966 [Aug. 31, 1965], No. 29729/66. Heading B3B. [Also in Division H1] The base of a mounting for a portable electric drill comprises an electromagnet having a core of magnetic material which supports a magnetiz - ing coil 28, the core including an inner pole face 30 surrounds by a substantially circular or rectangular outer annular pole face 31, the latter having the thickness of a portion or portions of its length increased to allow the drill to be supported on narrow work surfaces. The drill supporting column is rotatably mounted on the base and may be locked in any angular position, and for increased stability the column includes an adjustable leg (11a) (Fig. 1, not shown) which is aligned with the drill bit and the thicker portion or portions of the pole face 31 and which may be screwed down to contact the work surface.
