Abstract
PURPOSE: To execute suitable variation of molten metal surface by adjusting change of direction of shifting magnetic field and intensity of the shifting magnetic field separately to plural pairs of shifting magnetic field generators and working molten steel flowing device according to intensity of discharging flow from right and left discharging holes in a submerged nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: In case the intensity of the discharging flow 31 is to restrain caused by large variation of the molten metal surface, the direction of the shifting magnetic field is made to the direction showing with the blanked arrow mark 50 as reversing to the discharging flow 31 direction by a phase sequence converter 42. At the some time, the intensity of the shifting magnetic field is adjusted in accordance with the variation of molten metal surface by the current controller 43, to make the suitable variation of the molten metal surface. In case the intensity of the discharging flow 31 is to increase, the direction of the blanked arrow mark 50 may be changed to the reversed direction. In case some drift current develops, as two pairs of the shifting magnetic field generators 41 arranged at side faces of a mold can separately adjust the intensity and the direction of the shifting magnetic field, the discharging flow from the right and left discharging holes 22 in the submerged nozzle 21 is uniformized and the drift current is caused. By this method, enclosure of mold powder 33 caused by abnormal variation of the molten metal surface and the surface cracking are prevented.
