Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve finish appearance and weather-proofness by applying liquid paint containing a coloring component such as phthalocyanine plate crystals on a surface on which a specific cationic electrodeposition paint is applied and then applying powder paint containing no coloring agent on the liquid paint-applied surface. CONSTITUTION:Electrodeposition paint is prepared with epoxy cationic resin A, which has a surface tension of 40-60 dynes/cm and forms an aqueous liquid which can be electrodeposited on a cathode through neutralization with an acid, and non-ionic membrane-forming resin B having a surface tension of 25-45 dynes/cm, at a mixing ratio of 60 to 40 - 98 to 2 and with the larger surface tension of the resin A than that of B. This electrodeposition paint is applied to an object to be coated, and after its thermal curing, liquid paint containing phthalocyanine plate-shaped crystals, coloring pigment, etc. is applied to the electrodeposition coated surface as the first finishing coat and further, powder paint containing no coloring agent is applied as the second finishing coat, thus completing the paint application.
