Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable accurate quantitative determination of a polyamine, by converting a polyamine in a specimen into omega-aminoalkylaldehyde with an oxidase and reacting the compound with omega-aminoalkylaldehyde hydrogenase. CONSTITUTION:A specimen is treated with an enzyme oxidizing a polyamine to convert the polyamine in the specimen into omega-aminoalkylaldehyde. The produced omega-aminoalkylaldehyde is made to react with omega-aminoalkylaldehyde dehydrogenase in the presence of an oxidized nicotinamide coenzyme and the formed reduced-type nicotinamide coenzyme is determined to determine the polyamine. The oxidized nicotinamide coenzyme is e.g. oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate.
