Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive and small-sized superconducting device having simple construction comparable with that of a transistor or electronic tube, by utilizing an electronic cooling element as cooling means and packaging it integrally with a superconducting material while connecting them with external circuits. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting element 1 is disposed on a cooling device 2 having a built-in electronic cooling element making use of Peltier effect of a semiconductor. The cooling device 2 is secured on the inner surface of the bottom wall of a package 3 and connected with an external conducting circuit through leads. The superconducting element 1 is also connected with an external circuit through leads so that signals are inputted or outputted through the paths thus provided. By energizing the electronic cooling element in the cooling device 2, the temperature of the cooling device 2 is lowered and hence the temperature of the superconducting element 1 thermally connected therewith is also lowered to an operating temperature. In this manner, it is possible to operate a superconducting material with simple construction and simple control. Accordingly, a device presenting superconductivities can be put in practical use at a reasonable cost, while minimizing the size of the device.
