Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject concentrated softening and finishing material having little tendency in time dependent increase of viscosity, excellent in dispersion stability and capable of imparting good flexibility and antistatic properties to various fibers by blending a quaternary ammonium salt with a specific polyether compound. CONSTITUTION: This softening and finishing material of concentrated type for clothing having dispersion stability without causing a thickening phenomenon even in a high concentration is obtained by blending 0.2-10% of one or more of a polyether compound obtained by adding an alkylene oxide containing ethylene oxide as an essential component to 7-30 wt.% of (A) a quaternary ammonium salt and (B) a compound having >=5 active hydrogens and having >=50% of the sum weight of the polyoxy ethylene chains and 5,000-20,000 molecular weight, or its derivative (e.g. a fatty acid ester and a cationized product are preferable). As the compound having >=5 active hydrogens, sorbitol, polyglycerol, diethylenetriamine, etc., are cited.
