Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having excellent gloss without impairing productivity, by dry spinning a spinning solution containing an acrylonitrile based polymer under specific condition, drawing the resultant yarn in hot water, subjecting the drawn yarn to relaxing treatment and dry hot-drawing the relaxed yarn. CONSTITUTION:A spinning solution containing 24-29wt.% acrylonitrile based polymer with >=94.0wt.% acrylonitrile content is dry spun under condition of the ratio of hot air velocity Va(m/min) is the spinning stack of the linear discharge velocity D(m/min) of the spinning solution from a nozzle satisfying the formula 2.8<=D/10.Va<=3.4 while keeping discharge viscosity from the nozzle at 70-105P. The resultant yarn is then drawn in hot water, subjected to relaxing treatment and drawn under dry heat condition at >=1.15 times to provide a yarn having 12 denier average single filament size. Thereby the aimed fiber, having >=1/2 difference in single filament size of the average size and constituted of a modified cross-section blended single filaments of different size having a modified cross-sectional shape is obtained.
