Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 represent H, halogen atom, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, (di)alkylamino, aryl or aralkyl; A<+> represents formula II (R3-R6 represent H, alkyl or aralkyl, which may link with each other to form a ring), (substituted)pyridinium cation or phosphonium cation]. EXAMPLE:Tetra{4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-thienyl)-1,3-butandionato} europium complex. USE:A luminescent compound, which is colorless under normal visible rays and luminous in red under ultraviolet ray irradiation, with high durability and solvent solubility. PREPARATION:Europium perchlorate is reacted with a 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2- thienyl)-1,3-butanedione compound in acetone in the presence of NaOH and the produced compound is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula A<+>X<-> (X<-> represents anion).
