Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve ink clogging, difficulties in multicolor printing, and noise generation, by jetting an ink using a local break due to corona discharge between electrodes provided in a head body. CONSTITUTION:A head body 1 made of an insulating material is provided with a slit-form opening 2 on the front end part. An ink 8 is guided by a pipe 9 extending into the head body 1 so as to drip between an electrode 3 and an electrode 4. The pulsed voltage application between the electrode 3, 4 allows corona discharge to break the inhibition to an ink meniscus 10, thus resulting in an ink drip. This ink drip is jetted from the tip of the electrode 3 along the edge of the counter electrode 4 to be discharged from the slit opening 2. The discharged ink 11 is fixed to a recording paper carried in synchronism with an image signal to form a dot. In this manner, an image is formed by a dot group correspondingly to the image signal.
