Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide superior cold forgeability to a Cr steel material by pickling the steel material with a fluoronitric acid soln. to regulate the surface roughness to a prescribed value and by carrying out lubrication treatment. CONSTITUTION:A fluoronitric acid soln. or a mixed soln. contg. hydrochloric acid and ferric chloride is prepd. A Cr steel material for cold forging is pickled with the soln. By this pickling, scale and matte are removed in a short time, the surface roughness (Ra) is regulated to 3-5 and a surface to which a lubricant adheres well is formed. Lubrication treatment is then carried out to prevent seizing caused by the damage of dies in a cold forging stage.
