Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the thickness of a cake layer on a separation membrane in thin state and to reduce the size of the whole apparatus, by placing a separation membrane in a tank in a specific state and providing a liquid-introducing means below the separation membrane.
CONSTITUTION: Circulation water and/or fresh water are ejected downward from the bottom of a tank 1 through an ejection nozzle 7. A carrier 9 for microorganism is put into the tank 1 and an element 11 made of a plurality of bundled separation membranes 10 is vertically attached to the tank. An exhaust pipe 13 connected with a pipe collecting a liquid permeated through the membrane is placed above or below the membrane element 11 and the permeated water is made to be dischargeable from the tank 1 as a treatment water.
