Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid errors in measuring physical amount of a sheet-like porous material even if the sheet-like porous material has many holes, by irradiating a measuring light and a reference light to the sheet-like porous material, collecting the lights which pass through the holes in the material and reaches a light receiving part onto the focus of a focusing lens to be absorbed or extinguished by a light absorbing plate. CONSTITUTION:Light from a white light source 6 is turned to be an intermittent light by a chopper wheel 8 through a collimator lens 7. The wheel 8 which is provided with a filter 9 for a measuring light and with a filter 10 for a reference light irradiates alternately the measuring light and the reference light to a sheet-like porous material, for example, a sheet of paper 3. The light incident upon a focusing lens 11 does not gather on the focus of the lens 11 because the light is scattered light and is not absorbed by a light absorbing plate 15. Therefore, the light entering an integration ball 14 is reflected irregularly on the inner surface of the ball and detected by a light receiving element 12. On the contrary, the light passing through the holes of the sheet of paper 3 reaches the focusing lens 11 as the parallel light as it is, and is gathered on the focus of the lens 11 to be absorbed by the light absorbing plate 15 to be extinguished. Therefore, since the light passing through the holes of the paper 3 is never detected, the measuring value is not affected thereby.
