Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size of an optical fiber cable near the exit end by constituting the 2nd optical fiber cable of optical fibers guiding both of invisible light and visible light and a tube for insertion and protection of the fibers. CONSTITUTION:The CO2 laser light and helium neon laser light condensed at a point (a) are both guided by the optical fiber 9 consisting of KCl, are emitted from the exit end of the optical fiber, are condensed by a condenser lens 10 consisting of ZnSe and are projected on a desired section. An operator is, therefore, capable of easily checking the projection position of the invisible laser light. The KCl optical fiber is inserted into the tube made of a stainless steel and is thereby protected. The visible laser light is transmitted in such 2nd optical fiber cable by mixing the invisible light and the visible light in the same fiber as for the optical fiber cable and, therefore, there is no need for providing a mixing optical system at the exit end and the part of the cable near the exit end can be constituted to the smaller size. The 2nd optical fiber cable is freely attachably and detachably screwed to the 1st optical fiber cable by a connecting member 12.
