Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermoelectric element having high thermo-electromotive force and small dispersion by press-molding and sintering the powder of a specified metallic alloy and thermally treating a molded form in the atmospheric air.
CONSTITUTION: A specified metal such as Bi2Te3, Sb2Te3, etc., is crushed mechanically or atomized through a high-frequency plasma method. Powder is press- molded at 500∼1000kg/cm2, and heated at 1000∼1200°C and bonded. When fine particles of 500nm or less are synthesized in vapor phase through a plasma method, the method is more effective, and fine particles are sintered for two or five hr at 800∼1200°C in 10-2Torr on the molded form of fine particles through the plasma method. Lastly, the sintered molded form is treated for several hr at 700∼900°C, thus completing the manufacture of a thermoelectric element.
