Abstract

PURPOSE: To make precise speech recognition by collating a feature vector, which is a state series having a state number and represents states, one by one, with a feature vector time series of a standard pattern and a speech stored with the continuation of a state. CONSTITUTION: A speech inputted from a microphone 1 is converted by a feature vector converting means 2 into a time series of feature vectors. The feature vectors are, for example, spectra, etc., and a 15-channel band-pass filter group which has 250-6300Hz center frequencies and is arranged at intervals of a 1/3 octave is used to convert the speech signal into a spectrum pattern. Then the vectors are passed through a speech section detecting means 3 and matched by a matching part 4 against the standard pattern 5, and the result is outputted from a recognition result output part 6. Consequently, precise speech recognition can be performed by using a small arithmetic quantity and a small standard pattern memory.
