Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce an SN ratio and to perform excellent data detection by providing an oscillator, an antenna, an orthogonal demodulator, a comparator, a data detector, etc. CONSTITUTION:A microwave signal generated by the oscillator 23 is amplified 34, passed through a circulator 22, and sent from an antenna 21 to the transponder of a moving body. The signal reflected or absorbed by the transponder is received again by the antenna 21 and inputted to the orthogonal demodulator 25 through the circulator 22. A signal subjected to orthogonal homodyne detection is amplified 29 and 30 and inputted to level detectors 33 and 34 through LPFs 31 and 32 and the levels of an in-phase detection output and an orthogonal phase detection output and compared 35. The output of one of the LPFs 31 and 32 is inputted to an analog switch 36 controlled by a comparator 35, a larger level detected value is outputted according to the comparison output of the comparator 35, and a data detector 37 detects the data from the transponder. Thus, noise components of the other detection output are not added, so excellent data detection is performed.
