Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a light-emitting material composed of granular material produced by supporting an inorganic fluorescent powder on a carrier, emitting bright light with ultraviolet ray and useful as an ornament, sign, signal, etc., in a room or outdoors. CONSTITUTION:The objective light-emitting material is composed of a granular material having a diameter of preferably 0.5-50mm and produced by supporting powder of an inorganic fluorescent material such as blue light-emitting material such as ZnS:Ag, a green light-emitting material such as Zn2GeO4:Mn or red light-emitting material such as Y2O3:Eu and having a particle diameter of preferably 1-100mum of a carrier such as minerals, ceramics, synthetic polymer, vegetable, metals or magnetic material having a particle diameter of preferably 0.5-50mm. The support of the light-emitting material on the carrier can be performed e.g. by fixing fluorescent powder on the surface of the carrier with an adhesive, etc., or mixing fluorescent material to ceramic or synthetic polymer and forming the mixture into granules, or forming a granule exclusively from fluorescent powder and coating the circumference of the core granule with a synthetic polymer or ceramic, etc.
