Abstract
PURPOSE:To heat metallic beltlike materials to the temperature required in a short time by regulating the surface roughness of the plural metallic beltlike materials and allowing the ratio of reflectivity of an energy beam to correspond to the target heating temperature of the respective metallic beltlike materials. CONSTITUTION:The metallic beltlike materials 1 and 2 are arranged in a wedge- shape at an angle alpha with the roll bit 8 of rolling rolls 5 as an apex and laser beams 9 are projected on the roll bite 8. A laser beam passing through a point 10 repeats the reflection on points 10-14 and gives the heat to the metallic beltlike materials 1 and 2. The roughness of the mating face of the metallic beltlike materials 1 and 2 heated at this time is changed by chemical and mechanical means. By this method, the ratio of the laser beam reflectivity of the respective beltlike materials 1 and 2 is changed and the ratio of the amount of heat to be absorbed by the beltlike materials 1 and 2 is set to an optimum value and the laser beam having the output required to heat the respective beltlike materials 1 and 2 to the target temperature is projected.
