Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily produce an electronically controlled fuel injection device consisting of a martensitic stainless steel having excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance by mixing a specific ratio of graphite powder with powder of a ferritic stainless steel and molding the mixture under pressurization, then subjecting the molding to sintering, hardening and tempering. CONSTITUTION:The graphite powder is mixed at 0.5-2.0wt.% with the powder of the ferritic stainless steel which contains <0.12wt.% C and 12-25wt.% Cr, is mild, allows cold compression molding and is usable as a raw material for powder metallurgy and if necessary, a small amt. of zinc stearate is added and mixed as a lubricant to and with the mixture. The mixture is packed into a metallic mold and is molded under the pressurization and thereafter, the molding is sintered at >=1,000 deg.C. The molding is then subjected to an annealing treatment by heating and slow cooling in a vacuum and after the temp. is lowered, the molding is subjected to required machining and in succession, the molding is hardened from about 1,050 deg.C and is then subjected to the tempering treatment at about 200 deg.C in gaseous Ar. The electronically controlled fuel injection device which has the structure of the hard martensitic stainless steel and has the excellent durability such as corrosion resistance and wear resistance is produced by the powder metallurgical method.
