Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp retinal image having high resolving power, by providing a laser spot diameter control means to an irradiation system. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam oscillated by a laser oscillator 1 in an irradia tion system transmits through a beam splitter 2 and subsequently passes through a beam expander 3 to be altered in its beam diameter. The laser beam altered in its beam diameter is incident to a galvanic mirror 7 through a polygon mirror 4 and variable power lenses 5, 6. The laser beam reflected by the galvanic mirror 7 is allowed to irradiate the retinal part Ef of an eye E to be examined through a relay lens 8, a focus lens 9 and an objective lens 10. The spot diame ter of the laser beam scanning the retinal part Ef can be arbitrarily altered by replacing the beam expander 3. The reflected beam from the retinal part Ef is incident on a photomultiplier tube 11 and a retinal image is projected on a monitor television 12.
