PURPOSE:To decrease a Barkhausen noise, by providing a part extending in a direction along the impressing direction of the magnetic field of a recording signal from a magnetic recording medium at respective magnetic sensing part in an electrode conductive layer derived from the magnetic sensing part and a bias magnetic field generating conductor arranged crossing the magnetic sensing part at the outside of a magnetic shield. CONSTITUTION:A pair of first and second soft magnetic films 9 and 10 either of which is provided with an MR effect are laminated via a non-magnetic intermediate layer 11. Also, on a substrate 2, the magnetic sensing part 2 and the bias magnetic field generating conductor 5 extending so as to cross a front electrode conductive layer 6, a rear electrode conductive layer 7, and the magnetic sensing part 2 from the both ends of the magnetic sensing part 2 via an insulating layer 4 are provided, and a shield magnetic material 8 with high permeability is arranged covering over the arranged part of the magnetic sensing part. By constituting current paths in each of electrode conductive layers 6 and 7 and the bias magnetic field generating conductor 5 under the arranged part of the magnetic material 8 so that only the main conductive direction of a sense current (i) in the magnetic sensing part 2 exists, and a deflection part to derive terminal deriving parts 13 and 14 of the electrode conductive layers 6 and 7 and the conductor 5 is provided outside the magnetic material 8.
