Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve highly sensitive light detection with a lessened scattering on an interface, by a method wherein a step is provided at the end of a quartz plate for holding gel to be put tightly on a gel using a glass spacer thicker than the gel and a window is provided for incidence of side light.
CONSTITUTION: A recess 0.2W0.3mm long or more is provided over an end width of 10W20mm of a quartz plate 1 for holding gel. When two quartz plates 1 are put together, a clearance larger than that at the center is formed at the ends thereof and a glass spacer 2 with an end face ground thicker than a gel is set to make a light irradiation window. Consequently, the gel is formed so tight on an end face of the quartz plate and glass to make the surface thereof flat at a light incident section, thereby enabling the lessening of scattered reflection and refraction of beam here. This enables highly sensitive detection of light with a reduced scattering on the interface.
