Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily designate a three-dimensional direction with a visual image while seeing a three-dimensional picture display device by detecting first and second specific angles on three-dimensional coordinates and using these first and second angles to operate direction vector elements. CONSTITUTION:A theta designating pole 3 is rotated on an XY plane, and a psidesignating pole 4 is rotated on a plane including the Z axis. Angle detectors 5 and 6 are attached to respective designating poles 3 and 4, and angles theta and psifrom a theta reference line 7 and a psi reference line 8 are detected by detectors 5 and 6. Elements Px, Py, and Pz of the direction vector are obtained by performing the operation in a computing element 9 in accordance with prescribed conversion formulas on the basis of detection results, thereby designating the direction. Thus, an operator can visually match the direction vector while seeing the three-dimensional picture display device and easily designates the three-dimensional direction.
