Abstract
PURPOSE: To detect the quantity of ice growth accurately even if sherbet ice particles are mixed into fluid by preventing intrusion of ice particles into a conduction tube with an ice particle intrusion preventing means and detecting fluctuation of a liquid level in the conduction tube. CONSTITUTION: A screen 40 is provided at the end of a horizontal tube 38 in order to block intrusion of ice from an ice heat storage tank 10 into a conduction tube 36. Ice growth is calculated based on the fact the amount of a fluid level h0 changed into ice is equal to about 0.0905 times of the fluctuation Δh of fluid level in the tube 36 detected by a water level gauge 42. Assuming the fluid level of maximum ice growth is (h), ice making is continued until the liquid level increases by h=0.905×h0 . Since the liquid level is different when liquid is fed from the tank 10 to an air conditioner 28 through operation of a pump and when it is not fed, detected liquid level must be corrected by calculating the difference previously.
