NEW MATERIAL:Novel substance K2919 or a salt thereof. USE:Useful as an antitumor agent or a remedy for tumor and showing antitumor activity against animal tumors, especially malignant tumors. PREPARATION:Strain K2919 (FERM P-9408) belonging to the genus Streptomyces is aerobically cultivated in a proper medium and the aimed substance is obtained from the culture mixture. The medium contains any nutritive source which the substance K2919 producing strain can use, and, for example, glucose is useful as a carbon source, soybean flour or ammonium salt are useful as a nitrogen source. Aerobic liquid culture is suitable as the culture method. The culture temperature is 20-37 deg.C, preferably 25-30 deg.C. The substance K2919 is collected from the culture mixture by extraction with ethyl acetate.
