Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the settling velocity of suspended solids in organic waste water by adding thereto the supernatant liquid of a liquid medium after culturing the same with a compost containing microorganisms and the metabolites thereof added to an actinomyces medium. CONSTITUTION:A compost obtained from the fermentation of sewage sludge is added to an actinomyces medium which is subjected to an aerobic culture while being heated, with the selective propagation of the actinomyces. Easily decomposable hydrocarbons are added to the actinomyces medium with a pH adjustable within the range of 8-9, biasing toward the alkali side. Also, the culture temperatures are within the range of 70-90 deg.C. The supernatant liquid of this liquid medium is added to organic drain water 2 which has been aerated in an aeration tank 1 through the supernatant liquid adding opening 3 to settle the suspended solids in a settling tank 4, thus producing a treated water 5. Microbe enzymes are accumulated in the compost, which lower the resistivity of small organic colloids in the suspended solids.
