CONSTITUTION:A thermal color forming layer comprising a leuco dye and a color developer as main constituents is provided on a base. A compound of the formula, wherein R is an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl, is incorporated in the thermal color forming layer. With the compound of the formula incorporated in the color forming layer, sensitivity is enhanced, suitability for high-speed recording is obtained, high ground brightness is ensured, and chalking will not occur in image areas during preservation after recording. At least one compound of the formula is used either singly or in combination, preferably in an amount of 0.5-10pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the dye.
