Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the preparation of hydroponic solution, by forming a recess on the surface of or in a rock wool medium, filling the recess with soil and applying a hydroponic solution containing a nitrogen component composed mainly of organic nitrogen. CONSTITUTION:A recess 12 is formed on a rock wool mat 11 and is filled with soil 13 to obtain a medium 10. When a hydroponic solution containing an organic nitrogen component reaches the soil 13, the organic nitrogen component is decomposed into ammoniacal nitrogen and further converted to nitric acid nitrogen by the nitrating action of the soil to enable the assimilation with a crop. A commercially available low-cost urea compound liquid fertilizer can be used in the present process.
