Abstract

PURPOSE:To save the labor for the control of hydroponic solution and to enable the uniform growth of a crop at a low cultivation cost, by preparing a hydroponic solution containing a nitrogen component composed mainly of organic nitrogen and using the solution in combination with a rock wool medium pretreated with a liquid produced by leaching soil with water. CONSTITUTION:A rock wool mat is immersed in a liquid produced by leaching soil (e.g. earth) with water to obtain a rock wool medium treated with leached liquid of soil. Vegetable such as lettuce is cultured on the rock wool medium using a hydroponic solution containing a nitrogen component composed mainly of organic nitrogen. Since the rock wool medium is pretreated with leached liquid of soil to impart the medium with urea-decomposition activity and nitration activity, a hydroponic solution containing organic nitrogen component applied to a conventional soil culture can be used in the above hydroponic culture.
