Abstract

PURPOSE:To steer rear wheels by converting rotation from an input shaft into an orbital locus of a rocking arm doing its circular orbit motion as being tilted in vertical directions on the basis of the preset steering ratio characteristic making a car speed a parameter, and according to this conversion, moving an output shaft in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:When a handle is operated, rotation is transmitted to a rear- wheel steering gear C via a turning shaft 12, while this rotation is transmitted to a second connecting shaft 19 and a first connecting shaft 16 via an elastic device 20, thereby rotating a rocking arm 14. Synchronously with this rotation, the target steering ratio conformed to a car speed is calculated by a control unit, and the pulse signal conformed to this target steering ratio is outputted to a stepping motor 25, thus this motor 25 is driven. With this drive of the stepping motor 25, rotation and drive of a steering rod 10 are carried out, making the rocking arm 14 perform its circular orbit motion, and this steering rod 10 is made to move in the axial direction according to this orbital locus, whereby rear wheels are steered so as to become the target steering ratio.
