Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the flexibility and the moisture resistance of the titled fiber by composing a core of a copolymer of a normal butyl methacrylate and an acrylate having a hydroxyl group in a side chain, etc., and a clad of a vinylidene fluoride and ethylene tetrafluoride. CONSTITUTION:The core material of the titled fiber has the excellent transmission property of a visible light and a high refractive index and also is necessary to have a glass transition temp. of lower than a room temp. to maintain the flexibility even in the titled fiber having >=1mm diameter, and is necessary not to increase a light transmission loss caused by moisture absorption, and is preferably composed of the copolymer of the normal butyl methacrylate and the acrylate or the methacrylate which has the hydroxyl group in the side chain thereof. The clad is preferably composed of the copolymer of the vinylidene fluoride and the ethylene tetrafluoride or a propylene hexafluoride in the ease of a monobloc casting with the core, and in the refractive index against the visible light.
