PURPOSE:To selectively adsorb and elute noble metal, etc., in a high selectivity, and to recover it in a high purity, by capsulizing alga such as green algae, brown algae and by using the alga as adsorbent for noble metal such as gold, silver, platinum. CONSTITUTION:The green and brown algae such as chlorella, Hiziki fusiforme, kombu are pulverized fine into particle size possible to pass through 50 mesh. Then, the alga is capsulized by the phase sepn. method or hardening-in-liq. method, etc., with agent for forming film such as polyacrylamide, gelatin to produce capsule having 10-3000mum particle diameter. The alga can be prevented from bringing to contact with microorganism and increased water-permeability by capsulizing. In the case that the noble metal is recovered from the adsorbent adsorbing the noble metal, the noble metal is eluted by treating with a reagent such as mercaptoethanol after removing the noble metal. The percentage of elution is 50-95%. According to the method, the noble metal can be adsorbed in a higher efficiency of adsorption, compared with ion-exchange resin, etc., and recovered in the highest efficiency of adsorption and selectivity which has never been obtd.
