Abstract
PURPOSE:To accurately erase the outside of an effective track and to improve off-track overwrite by arranging a core part wider than an effective track and a core part formed by narrowing both side edges to determine the effective track on a read-write abutting part. CONSTITUTION:The edges 3 of the core part 1 which are wider than the width of the effective track (t) are abutted on the edge 5 of the core part 2 obtained by narrowing the edges 4 on both the sides at an angle alpha to determine the effective track (t) at a fixed interval to form the read-write gap part 8 and the angle alpha is set up to the range of 0 deg.<alpha<90 deg.. Thereby, off-track overwrite can be improved by generating much leakage magnetic field to the outside of the effective track (t). Since the outside of the effective track (t) can be accurately and efficiently erased, physical mismatch between a preceding erase head and a read/write head is not generated and the reading accuracy can be improved.
